Seedling is where it all begins. This is the level where kids move from just reciting numbers to actually understanding them. They’ll discover what a number is, how much it represents, and how numbers relate to each other. It's hands-on, it's chatty, and it's built around exactly how little learners actually learn: by touching, building, and talking it through with you.

Lesson 1: Numbers to 10
This is the foundation everything else builds on. Kids count, write, and truly connect with numbers 1–10 through playdoh mats, handwriting practice, and count-and-write activities, plus a fun discovery activity where they count out a handful of manipulatives and draw what they counted. It's simple, it's tactile, and it sticks.
Lesson 2: Place Value with Tens and Ones
Once numbers to 10 feel solid, kids start seeing how bigger numbers are built from tens and ones. Using base ten blocks and ten frames, they count "how many" in a way they can see and touch, the same hands-on foundation that makes place value click for good later on.
Lesson 3: Classify & Compare
Now kids start noticing patterns and relationships between numbers, like even and odd, more and fewer. This lesson pulls those two ideas together into one unified skill, so your kids aren't just memorizing rules, they're actually noticing how numbers behave.
Bonus Week: Numbers to 100
A light sneak peek for kids who are ready to stretch: hundred charts in three flavors (fill in the whole thing, trace the numbers, fill in the blanks), skip counting by tens, and a search-and-find right on the hundred chart. This one's a fun preview, not a mastery expectation.
Every Seedling lesson includes real, hands-on pieces built for how littles actually learn:
Handwriting Practice — forming numbers correctly, with plenty of room to build confidence.
Count-and-Write Practice — connecting the number they see to the amount it represents.
Hands-On Discovery Activity — a tactile, exploratory activity (like counting manipulatives and drawing them) where kids find the concept themselves before they're told the rule.
Playdoh Mat / Centers Activity — a squishy, hands-on way to build numbers, place value, or comparisons, perfect for a table activity or a quiet-time center.
No quizzes at this level. Littles show what they know through conversation, not testing. You'll already have a feel for where your kiddo stands just from being present and working alongside them. That's the fun of this age and stage.
A Note on How to Use This
Five pieces doesn't mean five requirements. You know your kid better than any worksheet ever will. If the playdoh mat is where the real learning is happening today, let it be. If handwriting practice needs to happen in three short bursts instead of one sitting, do that instead. Use what works for your crew, in whatever order (and pace) gets you there. That's not cutting corners. That's just good teaching, especially with the littlest learners.
